Internal model number Q5 and the codename “Hongkong” have been discovered in Xiaomi’s Mi Code repository, pointing directly to the long-rumored Xiaomi MIX 5 and a planned 2026 release.
The “Q” prefix in Xiaomi’s naming system corresponds to devices built for the 2026 release window and ties the hardware to next-generation flagship silicon, specifically the anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor. The numeric suffix “5” is reserved for primary MIX series devices.

Xiaomi has recently restructured its internal model numbering, reassigning the “8” suffix exclusively to its Flip series lineup. With that designation moved, the Q5 identifier aligns with the expected mainline MIX 5.
The codename “Hongkong” historically signifies a top-tier, highly valued project within Xiaomi’s research and development division.
Supply chain leaks referenced in the code analysis suggest the device will incorporate advanced hardware, including a fully matured Under-Display Camera (UDC) for a bezel-less display and magnetic lens technology for camera focal capabilities and stabilization.

Internal data indicates the Xiaomi MIX 5 will return to the global market, including India, a shift from the China-exclusive launch of the MIX 4. There are reportedly no immediate plans for a Japanese release.
Due to recent shifts in Xiaomi’s model numbering systems, an exact release date within 2026 remains to be confirmed.
