Amazon to Pay $11.6 Billion for Globalstar, Become iPhone's Primary Satellite Provider
Amazon will acquire Globalstar for $11.57 billion in cash or stock, giving it Apple's satellite business for Emergency SOS and messaging. The merger won't close until 2027, with Amazon's own D2D service not launching until 2028.
