Diablo II: Resurrected Unveils Its First New Class in 25 Years with $25 Warlock DLC
Blizzard is digging deep into its legacy—and this time, it’s not just nostalgia. For the first time in 25 years, Diablo II is getting an entirely new playable class.
The Warlock joins Diablo II: Resurrected through the newly released $25 Reign of the Warlock DLC, marking the first fresh class addition since the original game’s early 2000s heyday. It’s a bold move for a title long considered “complete” by its most dedicated fans.
The expansion doesn’t stop at a new class. Players can also expect new gear drops and a set of challenging Colossal Ancients bosses designed to test high-level builds.
For newcomers, Blizzard is offering a $40 Infernal Edition bundle that packages the update with additional content, making it easier for first-time players to jump in.
Interestingly, the Warlock isn’t exclusive to Diablo II: Resurrected. The class will also make its debut in Diablo IV as part of April’s “Lord of Hatred” expansion and is set to appear in Diablo Immortal as well. One notable omission from this update cycle is Diablo III, which remains untouched as Blizzard focuses on strengthening the bookends of the franchise.
The timing is no coincidence. The release aligns with Blizzard’s 35th anniversary celebrations and runs parallel to Overwatch 2’s ongoing hero expansion roadmap, signaling a broader content push across the company’s major franchises.
