X Tries to Block AI Nudity—Users Find Workarounds in Grok’s Standalone App
Elon Musk’s X has introduced geoblocking and moderation updates to restrict AI-generated nudity, but users report bypassing these measures through the standalone Grok app and website. Paul Bouchaud of AI Forensics demonstrated how Grok can still generate explicit content despite X’s policies.
“We can still generate photorealistic nudity on Grok.com,” Bouchaud said. He added that prompts like transforming images into bikini-clad versions work seamlessly. A Grok user posted on X: “Game over for me (UK)—everything across 4 accounts is now moderated.”
“I could upload an image on Grok Imagine and ask to put the person in a bikini and it works,” Bouchaud noted after testing the tool.
Musk defends Grok’s NSFW policy as aligning with “R-rated movie standards” in the U.S., though enforcement varies by region. Meanwhile, xAI faces global investigations over non-consensual imagery, with AI Forensics collecting 90,000+ Grok images since December.
