The $37 Gamble: How Fortnite's New Microtransaction Policy Became a Gambling Nightmare Overnight
Fortnite content partner Moon called Steal the Brainrotās new mechanics āa gambling game targeted towards kids who donāt know any better.ā
The third-party game launched a $37 āPresent Rotā bundle (4,900 V-Bucks) and a 100 V-Bucks-per-spin roulette system just one day after Epic Games enabled in-island transactions.
āThey will mindlessly spend thousands of V-Bucks for a CHANCE to get better in-game items,ā Moon added in a Reddit post.
Community reactions split: some redditors blamed parents for unsupervised spending, while others compared the roulette to āpredatory loot boxes.ā
Brian Sharon, Epic Games senior communications manager, confirmed: āThe existing offers in Steal the Brainrot follow our rules and guidelines.ā
This comes after Epic previously removed āpredatoryā loot boxes from Fortnite Save the World under legal pressure.
