The $37 Gamble: How Fortnite's New Microtransaction Policy Became a Gambling Nightmare Overnight

Fortnite's new microtransaction policy sparks gambling concerns with $37 bundles and in-game roulette. Community reactions split as Epic defends the mechanics.

Fortnite content partner Moon called Steal the Brainrot’s new mechanics “a gambling game targeted towards kids who don’t know any better.”

The third-party game launched a $37 ‘Present Rot’ bundle (4,900 V-Bucks) and a 100 V-Bucks-per-spin roulette system just one day after Epic Games enabled in-island transactions.

“They will mindlessly spend thousands of V-Bucks for a CHANCE to get better in-game items,” Moon added in a Reddit post.

Community reactions split: some redditors blamed parents for unsupervised spending, while others compared the roulette to “predatory loot boxes.”

Brian Sharon, Epic Games senior communications manager, confirmed: “The existing offers in Steal the Brainrot follow our rules and guidelines.”

This comes after Epic previously removed “predatory” loot boxes from Fortnite Save the World under legal pressure.
