Square Enix Asks Don’t Spoil A 25 Year Old Game Remake—Cue The Eye-Roll

Square Enix wants you to act like Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined isn’t a 25-year-old game with new fluff tacked on—spoiler rules apply, apparently.

The studio has prohibited early access players from spoiling major story beats on streams or vlogs until February 5. A policy statement reads:

"As well as streamlining the original tale for better pacing, and deeper character development, the team have also added entirely new storylines to play through."

Restrictions explicitly target content like boss battles from the Malign Shrine: Throne Room and cinematic-only sequences. Japanese copyright laws are cited as precedent, referencing a 2023 YouTuber arrest for STEINS;GATE spoilers. One community member wrote:

"People are simply gonna" share content regardless of restrictions.
