Sandfall's Final Boss Was Too Easy Because Players Became Side Quest Gladiators

Players grinding side quests in Clair Obscur making final boss too easy

Clair Obscur’s final boss became a pushover after players treated side quests like a grind farm, according to developers Sandfall. The studio admitted in a recent statement that players who maxed out gear through optional content rendered the climactic fight trivial.

Michel Nohra, co-founder of Sandfall, said:

"The only thing I regret is not making it clearer that if you want the intended difficulty for the boss, you have to go beat it now."

Tom Guillermin, the game’s lead designer, added:

"We weren't sure if our game was going to be that good."

The comments come as French President Macron praised Clair Obscur as a "source of national pride" during a speech last week. The game, available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, recently launched its expansion Expedition 33, which adds new bosses and content.
