Rwanda and Anthropic are teaming up to bring AI to health, education, and governance—here’s how it could reshape the nation’s future.

The Government of Rwanda and Anthropic signed a three‑year memorandum of understanding to embed Artificial Intelligence across health, Education and the Public Sector.

Paula Ingabire said:

"This partnership with Anthropic is an important milestone in Rwanda’s AI journey..."

The deal includes 2,000 Claude Pro licenses for educators, AI literacy training for public servants, and a AI-powered learning companion to be deployed across eight African countries.

Key health focus areas in Healthcare include cervical cancer elimination, malaria reduction and maternal mortality, while the Public Sector aims for AI‑driven development.

The MOU stresses capacity building and local autonomy to ensure Rwanda controls its own AI trajectory.

And the rollout is slated to begin later this year, pending final training sessions.
