Riot Games’ awkward fistbump to Hytale’s resurrection feels like a bittersweet victory. The studio posted a fistbump emoji and “Congrats on early access” on X after Hytale’s launch, a game it once shuttered after acquiring Hypixel Studios in 2020.

The Hytale team responded with “Thank you for helping bring Hytale home,” a phrase that feels less like gratitude and more like a sigh of relief.

Six years after Riot acquired the studio, it “halted development” with no completed product.

Noxy, co-founder of Hypixel, later admitted: “After years of pushing forward... we couldn’t bring Hytale to life in a way that truly delivered on its promise.”
