Nexus Mods: No Risk of Discord Bans for Sharing Mod Links—Mostly

Discord users can breathe easy: Nexus Mods says sharing mod links won’t get you banned… unless you’re a Hatsune Miku in New Vegas.

Nexus Mods community manager Pickysaurus confirmed no evidence of Discord bans for sharing mod links. "At the time of writing, there does not appear to be any risk of being moderated by Discord for posting Nexus Mods links," Pickysaurus said.

Independent testers, including the author, shared Nexus Mod links on Discord servers without facing moderation actions.

Discord’s content scanning prioritizes "high harm" material like malware and CSAM, with limited enforcement in smaller spaces such as direct messages and non-community servers.

A handful of users reported false copyright strikes on Nexus Mods links in 2025, but no multi-year bans were confirmed. Unverified Reddit posts amplified the initial rumor, which community testing has since debunked.
