Bungie’s Marathon drops March 5, but the real game starts after launch. The studio says, “Launching the game is just the first step in a long journey together with our players.”
The seasonal system resets all progress each season, but “carry over things that express your identity”—like titles, Codex progression, and cosmetics—remain. The Cryo Archive, a derelict UESC Marathon ship, serves as the first end-game zone, blending close-quarters combat and puzzles.
Bungie describes it as “a place where players can test their skills in a high-stakes environment.”

Ranked Mode introduces a competitive ladder for loot-focused PvPvE. Season 2 adds the Sentinel Runner shell, the Cradle system for stat customization, and the nighttime Dire Marsh. The Cradle system allows players to “adjust their build dynamically,” according to Bungie.
Bungie said:
"We’ll have more to say about all the great stuff coming to Marathon soon."
Launch content includes six Runner shells, 28 weapons, three zones, and the Rook frame for scavenger mode. The game arrives on PlayStation 5 and “other platforms” (not explicitly named).
