Life is Strange: Reunion Launches March 26 as Final Chapter—Amid Developer Layoffs and Publisher Losses
Square Enix is closing the book on Max and Chloe’s story—even as their developer fights to stay afloat. Life is Strange: Reunion launches March 26 for PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), marking the final chapter in the franchise.
The game introduces dual playable characters for the first time, with Square Enix stating:
"Choices have consequences that affect the outcome of a dramatic and surprising narrative."
Behind the scenes, Deck Nine—the studio behind the sequel—faced two rounds of layoffs in 2025, including after Double Exposure’s 2025 GDC win.
Double Exposure, Square Enix’s previous project, reportedly represented a "large loss" for the publisher, which explicitly called Reunion the "final chapter" of the Max and Chloe saga.
