Intervene Immune Advances in XPRIZE Healthspan with Thymus Regeneration Approach
Intervene Immune's TRIIM platform, which focuses on thymus regeneration, has advanced to the XPRIZE Healthspan semifinals, challenging conventional wisdom about the inevitability of immune aging.
The company has been named a semifinalist in the XPRIZE Healthspan competition for its TRIIM platform, which combines growth hormone, DHEA, and metformin to reverse immune aging.
Early data from the TRIIM-X trial shows a reduction in PD-1-positive CD8 T cellsāa subset associated with blunted cytotoxic functionāand an increase in naĆÆve T cell output, aligning with expectations for thymus regeneration.
Robert Brooke, a representative of the company, noted that the protocol's components have "independent antiaging effects beyond controlling insulin." He added that cancer risk metrics fell substantially during the one-year treatment period, suggesting the approach might be both workable and safe. "Significant rollbacks were achieved on this basis over one year of treatment," Brooke said.
Robert Brooke said:
"Miraculously, cancer risk based on established metrics actually fell quite substantially ā and that was our second sign that the treatment might be both workable and safe."
The XPRIZE Healthspan competition emphasizes functional improvements in muscle, cognition, and immune performance rather than just biomarker changes. Intervene Immune's approach is considered pragmatic, relying on clinically approved tools rather than novel gene editors or vectors.
However, the company faces challenges in regulatory approval, manufacturing scalability, and ensuring physician usability as it progresses.
The TRIIM-X trial remains ongoing, with additional groups recently launched. Full publication of results will require time, and the study does not provide clinical guidance for patients at this stage.
