Google I/O 2026: The AI Arms Race Heats Up in Mountain View

Google I/O 2026 event announcement

Google is doubling down on AI, and I/O 2026 is where it plans to show off its most aggressive push yet. The event, scheduled for May 19-20, 2026, will take place at Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre and online.

Highlights include AI breakthroughs, Gemini updates, and product demos across Android, Search, Chrome, Workspace, and Pixel devices.

Unlike last year’s focus on AI Mode for Search and the AI filmmaking app Flow, 2026 will expand Gemini’s integration across Google’s ecosystem.

Developers can register for the event starting today, while a Gemini-built minigame “save the date” experience is already available on Google’s website. However, the event lacks concrete scheduling details for specific Gemini features.
