Square Enix’s multiplatform strategy for Final Fantasy 7 Remake prioritizes PC-first development, with director Naoki Hamaguchi confirming graphical quality won’t be compromised—even on lower-powered hardware like the Switch.

Hamaguchi explained:

"Our development structure simply doesn't work that way to begin with."

He emphasized that 3D assets are built for PC first, then scaled down for PS5/PS5 Pro and other platforms.

"We create assets for high-end environments first, not lowest baseline."

The FF7 Remake series has sold 8.7 million copies as of March 2023, though its sequel and FF16 underperformed expectations.
