Epic Ghosted Horses Dev Over Content Dispute, Says Studio

Horses game art with dark, eerie atmosphere

Santa Ragione, developer of horror title Horses, has accused Epic Games Store of "ghosting" them following the game’s removal from the platform. The studio claims Epic Games Store made "provably incorrect" statements about the game’s content during their dispute.

Epic Games Store cited violations of its "Inappropriate Content" and "Hateful or Abusive Content" policies, assigning Horses an Adults Only (AO) rating. A representative stated, "Our team played the game and found it violated the Epic Games Store’s Content Guidelines."

Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

Santa Ragione emphasized that Horses remains available on the Humble Store and that the studio has repaid development loans despite distribution challenges. The developer did not elaborate on specific content policy disagreements but framed the removal as a financial survival issue.
