DJI Neo 2 Unveiled: 49GB Storage and LiDAR-Enhanced Obstacle Avoidance in 160g Selfie Drone
DJI has introduced the Neo 2, a successor to its 2023 Neo drone, accelerating its product cycle by one year. The 160g device retains its compact form factor while integrating advanced features such as omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and expanded internal storage capacity.
The Neo 2 incorporates a 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor capable of 4K/60fps video recording, paired with 49GB of internal storage—double the capacity of the original model.
This increase allows for extended flight-time recordings without requiring external storage solutions. However, the system does not support Raw photo format capture, limiting post-processing flexibility for professional users.
Obstacle avoidance is enhanced through a combination of vision sensors and LiDAR technology, enabling the drone to detect and navigate around objects in all directions.
This system operates within the 160g weight constraint, supported by a 1606mAh battery rated for up to 19 minutes of flight time. Comparative analysis with industry benchmarks indicates this duration lags behind competing models in the same price range.
The Neo 2 is available in three configurations: a base model priced at £209, a Fly More Combo at £349, and a Motion Fly More Combo at £509. Control options include the DJI Fly app, RC-N3 controller, or optional FPV accessories.
Notably, the device is not available through DJI's official U.S. distribution channels, though third-party availability remains unconfirmed.
