Division Commander Defects to Battlefield as Ubisoft's Go Bag Drops

Julian Gerighty leaves Ubisoft for EA's Battlefield as The Division 3 enters early development. Ubisoft Massive faces challenges post-layoffs.

Julian Gerighty's move from Ubisoft to Battlefield

Julian Gerighty, executive producer of The Division series, has left Ubisoft to join EA’s Battlefield Studios as The Division 3 remains in early development.

Gerighty’s farewell message read: “Quick update from the Base Of Operations: It’s time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure.”

Ubisoft Massive confirmed the move, stating: “Julian, your legacy is part of this studio and remember: Once an Agent, always an Agent.” The studio also reiterated its confidence in The Division 3’s future, with Gerighty adding: “The Division’s future burns bright, and I can’t wait for you to discover what the teams have been working on.”

Gerighty’s exit follows a March denial of rumors about his departure, which the studio called “far from true.” His departure coincides with recent layoffs at Ubisoft Massive after a failed “voluntary career transition program.”
