Disney’s Deleted Threads Post: When Corporate Social Media Can’t Handle Its Own Anti-Fascist Movies

Disney's deleted Threads post sparks debate on corporate social media and political discourse.

Disney’s social media account just had a very public crisis of conscience—and deleted it.

The company posted a Threads prompt asking users to share quotes from Disney films that "sum up how you’re feeling right now." Within hours, users submitted anti-fascist lines from Star WarsThe Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Mary Poppins, explicitly targeting the current U.S. administration.

Examples included Mon Mothma’s "Hope is like the sun, if you wait long enough it will shine on you" and Quasimodo’s "You have to be careful with fire, or it will consume you."

Disney deleted the post within hours, with some users alleging the company self-censored to avoid alienating political powers.

A Threads user preserved the deleted content, noting "the human world is, in fact, a mess." The incident highlights the tension between corporate social media accounts and real-world political discourse.
