Civilization 7's 'Test of Time' Update Lets You Stay with One Civ—And Players Are Ecstatic (But Tentative)

Civilization 7 Test of Time Update

Civilization 7 is getting a massive overhaul that finally lets players stick with one civilization—after a year of swapping between eras like a confused history student. Firaxis announced a 'Test of Time' overhaul for Civilization 7, tentatively launching in Spring, with changes 'similar in scope to an expansion.'

Key features include single-civ gameplay, apex age mechanics, and a new 'Triumphs' system replacing legacy paths. Players will have the option to play as one civilization throughout an entire game.

Legacy paths, which Firaxis has acknowledged as feeling too 'railroady,' are being removed completely. Update 1.3.2 added Gilgamesh as a leader to celebrate the game's first anniversary. The current Steam rating is 'Mixed.'
