CES 2026's Most Confusing Gaming Glasses: Asus' Micro-OLED Mess
The Asus ROG Xreal Micro-OLED AR gaming glasses might be the weirdest thing I've ever tested at CES, and that's saying something.
These glasses project a 177-inch virtual display with a 57-degree field of view and 240 Hz refresh rate via Micro-OLED technology. However, the 240 Hz limitation becomes apparent during fast-paced gaming, where motion clarity falters despite the high refresh rate.
Ergonomically, the design is a disaster. The cable snakes awkwardly behind the head, and the RGB strips—meant to add a cyberpunk aesthetic—make the glasses look like "Buddy Holly goes cyberpunk."
The "Anchor Mode" feature, intended to fix the screen position in the real world, instead creates a disorienting effect where the display feels like a "gigantic screen through a small gap."
Asus showcased the glasses at CES 2026 with no confirmed retail release date. The platform remains unproven, and the technical hurdles suggest this might stay a prototype.
