Bixby 1.0: Samsung’s AI Learns to Speak Your Language—Literally

Samsung’s Bixby is no longer just a voice assistant—it’s learning to think like a human, adjusting your phone’s settings and searching the web in plain English.

Samsung Electronics launched a beta program for Bixby 1.0, rebranded as a conversational device agent.

The update allows users to issue natural language commands, such as "I don’t want the screen to time out while I’m still looking at it," without relying on technical jargon. Real-time web search integration now lets users query information like "Find me hotels in Seoul that have swimming pools for kids" directly within Bixby’s interface.

Won-Joon Choi, COO of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, said:

"Since we introduced our first AI phone in 2024, we’ve been committed to making them easier to use..."

The beta is currently available in One UI 8.5 for select markets: Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the U.S., with broader rollout plans pending.

Samsung described the update as a step toward reducing "friction in everyday tasks" by prioritizing conversational logic over traditional menu navigation.
