Arc Raiders' Quiet Matchmaking Overhaul: 'Aggressive' Players Get the Shaft

Arc Raiders players suddenly facing tougher foes? Embark Studios confirmed a new 'aggression-based matchmaking' system. Patrick Söderlund told GamesBeat: That’s exactly what it is.

The system layers skill-based matching with PvP/PvE preference tracking. Players flagged as aggressive face tougher opponents in PvP. Söderlund clarified: "We intentionally left the definition vague to prevent system abuse."

Robert Sammelin previously hinted at behavior-based matchmaking. "We wanted to create a system that adapts to player behavior," he said in a 2023 interview. "But we knew definitions would need to evolve."

Arc Raiders remains Steam's biggest-selling game over recent holidays. Unconfirmed perceptions suggest discussions about the change, but no explicit community frustration has been cited.
