Anthem's Last Hope: Former Dev Tips Private Server Resurrection Possible?

A buried codebase might just be the last hope for Anthem’s dead servers.

Former BioWare exec Mark Darrah confirmed "code for local servers running in a dev environment" existed until months before Anthem's launch. He told Game Rant that the code is "there to be salvaged and recovered."

Darrah estimates a $10M investment would be needed to retroactively convert Anthem to singleplayer with AI companions—a sum EA "would almost definitely not spend."

Community parallels to mods like Titanfall 2's Northstar and Battlefront 2's Kyber suggest fan-run server revivals are technically feasible. Both projects leveraged existing dev-era code to enable offline play on PC platforms.

Darrah's statements align with modding precedents showing that server architecture can be repurposed for private or singleplayer modes. The key constraint remains financial: $10 million represents roughly 20% of Anthem's original development budget.
