AI-RAN is stepping out of the lab and into the real world, with NVIDIA-powered networks hitting 36 Gbps speeds and 16-layer MIMO in live field trials.

AI-RAN is transitioning from lab environments to live commercial deployment with NVIDIA and Nokia partners like T-Mobile, SoftBank, and IOH. Alex Choi, chair of the AI-RAN Alliance, noted:

"AI-RAN is emerging as a unifying architecture for future radio networks,"

SoftBank achieved a 16-layer massive MIMO using NVIDIA AI-RAN platforms, a first in 5G commercialization.

SynaXG demonstrated 36 Gbps throughput and <10ms latency on NVIDIA GH200 servers across 4G, 5G (sub-6GHz and mmWave), and AI workloads. Over 26 AI-RAN Alliance demos at MWC 2024 use NVIDIA AI Aerial, tripling last year’s innovations.

Partners like Quanta, Supermicro, and LITEON are commercializing AI-RAN hardware integrated with NVIDIA platforms. NVIDIA open-sourced CUDA-accelerated RAN libraries and joined the OCUDU open-source foundation to accelerate 6G research.
