After 8 Years of Waiting, Wolfenstein May Finally Return – But Will MachineGames Deliver?
Eight years is a long time to wait for a Nazi-bashing sequel – but Wolfenstein might finally be coming back.
MachineGames is reportedly developing a new Wolfenstein game, eight years after The New Colossus. Studio head Jerk Gustafsson confirmed in 2025:
"We have always seen Wolfenstein as a trilogy."
The project coincides with a Wolfenstein TV series on Amazon. During the gap, MachineGames released spinoffs like Youngblood (2019) and Cyberpilot (VR), then shifted focus to Quake Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024).
One unnamed source noted: "It should come as no surprise, really: The game industry is built on recognizable brands and sequels." Community backlash has grown over the delay, with fans fearing MachineGames will become "the Indiana Jones studio."
