Ace Combat 7 Soars Past 7 Million Sales, Hints at Sky-High Sequel

Seven million copies sold, a sequel on the way, and VR hype from 2019—Ace Combat’s sky-high success story just got a new chapter.

Ace Combat 7 has sold 7,000,000+ copies since its 2019 release. Director Kazutoki Kono said:

We are deeply grateful that so many players have continued flying with us for so long. We look forward to meeting you again in the next skies.

Free Ace Combat-themed wallpapers are now available across multiple devices, including references to Ace Combat 5. At The Game Awards 2025, Bandai Namco announced Ace Combat 8: Wings of Thieve for PC/console in 2026. The sequel promises an 'emotionally charged' narrative and multiplayer mode.

VR implementation for the full Ace Combat 7 experience would have made it a PSVR system seller for sure but even so, if you're a VR enthusiast, I'd say this experience is worth the price of the full game.
